Best Bollywood Rain Songs - The Middle Ages

In continuation with the monsoon and bollywood rain songs theme from the earlier post, its time to pick up the pace and glance at some of the best rain songs from late 70s into the 90s.

1. Ab ke saawan mein jee dare a peppy number from the film Jaise ko Taisa starring Jumping Jack Jitendra and Reema Roy opens the charts.

2. Hai Hai yeh majboori from the movie Roti, Kapda aur Makaan starring the camera conscious Manoj Kumar and the sizzling Zeenat Aman.

3. Rama Rama Gazab is a nice song from the the movie Naya Zamana starring the original hunk of Bollywood Dharmendra and dream girl Hema Malini

4. Rim jhim rim jhim dekho a lilting melody from the movie Shehzada starring Rajesh Khanna (yes once again!!!) and Rakhee

5. Aaj rapat jayein to this song from the movie Namak Halal attained cult status owing to its foot tapping music as well as superstar Amitabh Bachchan romancing the exotic Smita Patil in the rains.

6. Rimjhim gire saawan this song from the movie Manzil has hauntingly beautiful lyrics and features Amitabh Bachchan with Moushumi Chatterji.

7. Aaj ki raat a cabaret number from the movie Anamika featuring the legendary Helen is also worth mentioning in this list

8. Lagi aaj saawan from the movie Chandni is one of the many songs that have been immortalised on the silver screen by the then reigning Goddess of the industry - Sridevi

9. Kaate nahi kat te song from the movie Mr India set hearts racing with the Sridevi's beauty and sex appeal.

10. Megha re megha from the movie Lamhe completes a trilogy of rain songs picturised on Sridevi. But this one has a very different flavour, it is based on Rajasthani folk music.

Well this concludes part one of the rain songs of the middle ages (70s till 90s). The songs sure begin to get racier and more suggestive as the years go by. I know there are a lot of songs I haven't covered in this post.

Let me know any of your favourites that I might have missed out on and dont forget to checkout the videos on youtube.
