‘Ghosts’ have always been a mysterious and fear evoking topic for most of us. Fear of the ‘unknown’ has affected every individual on this Earth since ages.

On Sola Road in Naranpura, there is a flat in Aakash Ganga. I can't tell the flat number as it's on sale from couple of years and no one is purchasing that house because it's a haunted place.

3 years back, a person bought that house and invested a lot into it's renovation. That flat went through complete make over and looked completely splendid and beautiful. But, when the person started living there, he started hearing strange shrill noise as if a lady was crying in lot of pain. That noise used to be loud and clear. That noise disturbed them so much that they left the house. They could easily feel some strange and invisible power who was not happy to share that house with anyone else. That house is popular as a haunted place in that locality and neighbors are aware that the "real owner" of that house still lives there.

It is well known that there lived a lady who was of 'questionable' character. Though she lived with her husband and children, she used to call up and meet strangers at home. She was infamous as a nymphomaniac. Neighbors avoided her. One day, she fell ill. Doctors diagnosis revelaed that she was suffering from cancer. From a beautiful and cheerful lady, she turned into a frail and grieving one. Then started a painful period in her life which came to end only after her death. She used to cry loudly with pain as her body slowly but surely disintegrated from inside. She mourned a lot before death took over. Her family sold the house after her tragic demise.

As she had an untimely and unnatural death, her dreams remained unfulfilled. She wanted to enjoy and have fun. Now, she seems to live a cursed life of a ghost and her spirit is still in that house.

Adalaj Vav

Most of Ahmedavadis have visited or heard about the Adalaj Vav and the legendary story behind it's construction. The legend behind the origin of this step-well is as interesting as its architecture and is shrouded in beauty, romance and tragedy. 


In AD 1499, the area around Adlaj was known as Dandai Desh and was ruled by Rana Veer Singh of the Vaghela dynasty. Around this time, Mohammed Begda, a Muslim ruler of a neighboring state attacked Dandai Desh and killed Rana Veer Singh. The beauty of the slain king's widow, Rani Roopba, enamored Mohammed Begda who sent her a proposal of marriage. The heartbroken but determined queen agreed to the proposal on the condition that he complete a five-storied step-well (vav) for her. The Muslim ruler, enticed by the charm of the queen, readily agreed.

The construction of this well had begun years ago under Rana Veer Singh but had to be stopped later. Begda resumed this project with great enthusiasm and got the well completed in record time. When this five-storied edifice was completed but for the dome, Begda renewed his proposal. The next day, Roopba took a round of the well and saying a final prayer, flung herself into the water and drowned. Mohammed Begda immediately stopped further construction but did not get the monument demolished probably because Roopba had employed Muslim masons who had decorated it with Islamic motifs.

Now, here is something only few people know.

As, Adalaj Vav is one of the most famous monument of Gujarat, tourists throng this place during daytime. But, at night as silence and darkness falls, this place turns into a frightening place. At night, this Vav goes back into history and people who were closely associated with this place during it's construction seems still love to be at this place. If you can be here at night, you will surely feel this chilling effect.

5 Graves

If you go to this place, you will see 5 graves of the masons who were instrumental in construction of this marvelous heritage place. It is believed when Mohammed Begda asked them if another such Vav was possible, they replied in the affirmative. That made the king angry and he reacted by instantly killing all of them. Since, they all were massacred, they have not found peace. They still haunt the place.

This place is an office, situated behind a famous electronic shop at Ashram Road. Sorry, i can't mention the name of the complex as that may create trouble. Let it be a suspense.

No one stays late at night, no matter how urgent the work may be. There are many examples of encounter with something spooky.

Once, one of the office employees was alone and working late at night. Suddenly he found that the Air Conditioner started by itself. Once he thought there may be some problem with the switch board and switch may be loose. But, when it started having frequently, he understood that something invisible was playing prank. After that night, no one can make him work overtime even in the evening. He may come to office early, but staying late at office is surely impossible.

Another incident happened when a boy was completing his pending project at night and he found that the glass jug changed it's position by itself. It was kept far, but when he was thinking about drinking water, it seemed as if someone had moved that water jug in front of him. He was scared to death as no one else was in the office at that time.

It has happened many times, when only few people are working late at night, suddenly phones start ringing at upper floor and when someone picks up, there is nothing. It's like a sick joke.

Spooky figure moving at that upper floor has been seen many times, but it has never harmed anyone. It seems as if he/she just enjoys giving company and playing prank. One secret which is known to few employees is that the office is built over a place where dead bodies used to be buried long time back.

All office employees have been strictly asked to avoid doing work after 11pm. It's official that this is a haunted place. Employees understand this and don't dare to be the guest of the "Host at Night".

Ghost Farm!

There is a lonely place called Signa**** Farm, far from Ahmedabad, ahead of Bopal-Ghuma road. Only few people know about this and some have dared to visit.

Once, a group of friends decided to go there at night, just to chill out!

They were aware that strange things may happen and the place is known for having spooky characters. They wanted to have a feel of going to a haunted place at night. The place is frightening even during day time as it has lot of sculptures which are half broken (or look so). Even sculpture of Laughing Buddha is only half. Also, a sculpture of three white horses is half. It seems as if all of them have been been vertically divided into two parts. You will not find any mobile signal. There is hardly any dwelling near by. Sign of human being are abysmal.

The Group was having two Activa and 1 car. Both Activa was following the car as it was very dark. Suddenly, the car moved left and 1 Activa was unable to follow it. In darkness of the night, they went ahead. After some time, they found themselves lost. Suddenly, they started hearing sound of horses running towards them. The sound was clear and was getting louder and louder. They thought it was some sick joke and someone is playing prank. So, they started switching their light on and off. But, to their amazement, 3 white horses, crossed them and disappeared in grass. They were spell bound and shocked. I don't have words to describe their level of fright. We can't imagine or think such thing happening with anyone of us and these guys just had the most scary moment of their life.

They were lucky enough to return back safely to tell the story. It is said that at that place villagers were massacred and they come to life at night. Proper death ceremony has not taken place. So, they are still not free from their curse. They don't harm anyone.

If you want to have similar feeling, just go there at night. That place will surprise you like never before. Those boys were young and used to visit such places for rush of adrenaline. But, that was their last venture. Now, they don't dare to try such ghostly encounter.

After hearing this story, i tried to google to find do such incidents happen. Can their be ghost of horse too? I was surprised to see many such stories. So, i trust these boys!

Think Before You Click!

Once, 3 friends were enjoying their time on the terrace of a building which is opposite Vastrapur Lake. The building has a famous bakery shop at the ground floor.

They were not aware that they were not only at wrong place, but the timing was also wrong. It was too late at night. Since that terrace provided them a good Lake View and they thought no one will disturb their late night chatting, they chose that place that night which they can never forget.

By instinct, one boy clicked a picture of all of them on his mobile. But, when they saw that image, they were were so frightened that they almost lost their breath. The image had none of their faces and to their amazement their was a new face, looking straight into the camera. Though the face was not clear, but it was enough to so presence of some unknown person who was only visible to that mobile camera.

Boys ran for stairs. You can say that it was their bravery that they asked the security that who was the person in the picture. The security person asked them to delete that before it's too late.

I believe this story and can't dare to go their and trespass that person's territory. If you want to check that this is true or not, you are welcome to go there and click some pictures at late night.

Lesson: Don't forget to see the image, just after clicking at night, as someone unknown may be around!

Part 1, Haunted Places Of Ahmedabad!


I want to state here that all my family members asked not to write this, but i was unable to stop myself!

I have myself been to this place more than 100 times, but i have never felt or seen anything unusual or spooky. But, when i heard about a real encounter from an authentic source, i was just shocked. I don't want you to believe this story, but i am writing about this place as in my opinion this is a true story. This is mall cum multiplex which is buzzing with crowd even on normal days. I am naming this place as HM. I am sure you can easily guess the place.

Once there used to be a call centre (CC), only till few months back on the 3rd floor on the right hand side of the entrance. This place is vacant after that CC was closed (today, i have checked).

The owner of that CC was a girl. She is also the owner of some other business which runs on 4th floor. So on that particular day, when she was going downstairs, it was quite late at night and it all started. She knew that her call center was closed due to some holiday. But, she felt that something was pushing her towards the door of the CC. At the same time, 4 of her friends who were with her some minute back, were returning home. They saw her. They asked her "where are you going, CC is closed today". She turned back and said loudly in anger in a very different voice "Go away!Go away! Why are you coming here?". All were filled with fright. One of the boy was having a very strong physic like a wrestler. He tried to stop her. She threw him back like a plastic doll. That boy was strong enough to stand again and this time he caught the girl by her hair. It is said that if you encounter such apparition, the best way to control her is by catching her hair. He pulled her hard and she was trying to go inside. It was sure that if she entered the CC that day, she will never return alive. These boys now caught her hard and forcefully brought her down to parking and got out of the HM quickly. Outside, they stopped the car as she was continuously showing her anger on them and even gave that strong boy a hard-hitting slap. At that spot, she opened the door and went outside while they remained inside and locked the door. She kept shouting for some time and her eyes were literally red with rage. But, in few moments that cooled down and she lost her senses. Seeing her lying on the ground, boys tried to bring her senses by sprinkling some water drops on her face.

When she opened her eyes, she asked " where am i? how i get here? what happened? take me to the parking of Hm where my car is parked." Boys convinced her against that decision and told her everything that had happened. She relied on those boys and was quite frightened. Within days that CC was closed as it was found (through specialized people who talk to ghosts) that really there is a ghost of a girl. That girl used to work with another CC which used to run before this CC and was gang raped and killed and her body is buried at a place below the ground in the basement parking.

The CC was closed and that story is known only to few people. Since no body will believe that spooky story, so that incident has not been shared and they themselves were so frightened that it was hardly ever discussed by them.

Fortunately i know one of those boys and he told me that story while he swore at his mother that everything is true. He says, even now at late night, you can see her in the basement. She is quiet and never troubles anyone. On that particular day, she may have felt otherwise or wanted this story to reach here.

There is nothing to prove that this is true, so don't believe.
