STOP A SUICIDE

"Suicide" turned into a hindi word when Dharmendra delivered the most dramatic dialogue in the super-duper hit film "Sholay". That dilogue of Dharmendra over the Water Tank has been heard and seen many times by all of us. But, how many of us realize that this same comedy scene gets repeated everyday all over India in a different setting, which is serious, tense, with different characters, in different locations with very sad results when people end their life in love. Some man do this because their Dhanno rejects them or when Dhanno's family rejects them. Some jump from top of the building, some from the bridge in the river, some just opt to sleep on the railway track to be overrun by running train.

Why can't there be an NGO who just work on stopping such suicides. Everyday we read in newspapers that 2-3 people have killed themselves in Ahmedabad. How many cases are there which even don't get reported? How many families will keep loosing their earning members or loved ones like this?

So, www.ApnuAhmedabad.com has decided to start a group named "Stop A Suicide". This group task will be to make people aware about the "tell-tale" signs of suicide. 70% of those people tell someone or give warning signs before taking their own life. Stop A Suicide can teach how to recognize the warning signs of suicide in family, friends, co-workers, and patients, and how to respond as you would do with any medical emergency. We will also try to start a HELPLINE number so that we can save maximum lives.
