Any Time ... Any Body ...

One of the first things one gets to hear from a new friend or acquaintance in Ahmedabad is - "Hey this is my number ... anytime you need anything gimme a call" ... "Kabhi bhi, kuch bhi lage to batana bhai ...". This goes a long way in contributing to the warmth that Apnu Ahmedabad is all about.

'Big deal' ... you might say. What are friends for?

The BIG DEAL is this - what do a bunch of college going youngsters normally do? Hang out ... Party ... Chill ... ya sometimes study too ... but once in a while .. just once in a while they decide to make a difference.

Pratik Garg, Sugandh Bhandari, Asif Sumaro, Sunil Mehta, Ashish Bohra and Ashish Ostwal decided that they are gonna stretch the radius of their circle of concern just a tad bit longer. The blokes .. all in their early twenties decided to form a gang .. no no not a study gang or a bike gang ... a much much larger gang with a much larger agenda.

In true sms generation style they call themselves - A4A (Anytime 4 Anybody). The sheer simplicity of their agenda is heartwarming. They dont have lofty ambitions of associating with the glamorous campaigns around saving the tiger or preventing global warming by sending smses or switching of lights. A4A is focussed at impacting real change at the ground level.

Over the last 8-9 months this gang of good Samaritans has grown to include more than 50 active volunteers from institutions like JG College, GLS, LD Engineering College, NID, Nirma University, NRIBA , LJ Institute etc. They focus on social issues very relevant to Ahmedabad like collecting and distributing used clothes for the homeless. Spreading cheer along with fruits to patients at the Civil Hospital. Like I said ... Simple but very effective.

This Sunday (24th July, 2011), A4A in collaboration with the Red Cross Society has organised a blood donation camp for Thalassemia patients. Details of the event are given below:

Venue : Hari Om Towers, On the way to Law Garden from Panchwati
Time : 0900 till 1300 hours
Contact : +91 9909377555 / 8690918295

I know getting up early on a Sunday is such a pain and there are so many chores to complete and so many social commitments to fulfill. Just look at the pictures below and decide for yourself.
